Hey, what a great story. I actually had the pleasure of meeting your grandfather a couple of times and I was in awe and inspired each time. What a wonderful man and an inspiration. We are actually from the same hometown (Washington, Ga). I was there when the town honored him a couple of years ago. I will always remember meeting him and now, I will have the pleasure of connecting your story to him. Thanks and I am truly sorry for you loss.

This is, indeed, a comforting thought to know that he is rejoicing with his Savior. That is what I've been impressed with this morning as I've listened to the press coverage on Channel 7. Dave Llewellyn (sp?) has mentioned several times about his faith in and his relationship with Christ. I know his life had a deep impact on you, and I'll never forget how proud you were to be his grandson, even in elementary school. I still remember the pride you had on your face when you brought the doll to school that someone had made of your grandpa (the head was carved out of a dried apple). :)
Please, do, give my love and regards to your family. It's been so many, many years since we've been in contact, but I still remember them fondly. I hope they are doing o.k. during this difficult time. Will you please let them know I'm praying---and please give Ann a hug for me? I remember her as being such a sweet young lady.

You may not remember me, but I was your teacher many (many!) years ago at Novi Christian School. I tried finding you on Facebook to express my sympathies on the passing of your grandfather and this site came up, instead. Please know how very sad I am for you and your family---yet so happy to know that you will be reunited with him again one day. Please give my love to your mother and father, and to Ann. I will always cherish having known all of you, and I will never forget how your family demonstrated their love towards me when we were all at NCS. If a man's character can be judged by his children and grandchildren, then your grandfather must have been the "truest, bluest" of them all.
Know that you are all in my heart, my thoughts, and in my prayers.

I just stumbled upon this tonight too... Your grandfather was a great man and meant a lot to a lot of people. Your grandfather's speech that day was one of the greatest, most eloquent moments in baseball history. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family tonight.

I stumbled upon this tonight...words can't express what your grandfather meant to me. And I'm just a girl from Port Huron, who listened to him 162 days and nights a year as a child, falling asleep to his voice on long road trips in September...

Your grandfather found me - i wrote a blog about him and he stumbled upon it - and, he invited me to lunch. At age 32, I had never had a more wonderful day in my life.

My prayers are with him, and your family tonight...
